Keonjhar (Kendujhar) is a mineral-rich, forested, and predominantly tribal district in northern Odisha, known for its rich biodiversity and indigenous farming knowledge. In areas like Singpur of Banspal block, traditional seed varieties and practices are rapidly declining due to hybrid seeds and commercial farming. To revive this agro-biodiversity and strengthen food security, we are promoting indigenous agriculture practices such as mixed cropping, use of native seeds, composting, natural pest control, and community seed banks, with a strong focus on empowering women farmers and engaging youth in sustainable farming. This programme is being supported by Mankind Pharma.
